About

Hi, I'm Anne-Sophie.

I'm a Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and a member of both the British Psychological Society and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Across everything I do — clinical practice, teaching, supervision, writing, podcasting and organisational leadership — I'm driven by the same belief: high-quality psychological care should be socially responsive, and supporting therapists is fundamental to improving mental health care.

The journey so far

Frontline practice

I've worked across a wide range of clinical settings: supporting women at a specialist centre for survivors of gender-based violence, within NHS drug and alcohol services, and as a primary school counsellor supporting children through complex emotional challenges. I've also worked in family services with parents whose children had been placed into care, and in several charities supporting people with a wide range of mental health difficulties.

2019 — Founding Headstrong

In response to the growing need for affordable and accessible mental health services, I founded Headstrong Counselling, where I continue to serve as CEO and Clinical Director. It has since grown into one of the UK's largest low-cost counselling organisations — over 200,000 sessions delivered across the UK.

Headstrong Academy

I founded Headstrong Academy to provide professional training and CPD for counsellors and psychotherapists interested in anti-oppressive practice. I continue to teach on the Academy's programmes.

Today

Alongside my leadership role, I work as a clinical supervisor and maintain a small private practice — as well as writing, podcasting and supporting grassroots initiatives.
